Rogers Chinatown Street Festival

The 10th Annual Rogers Chinatown Street Festival officially opened to the public at 10:00am. The festival comprised of merchants, two entertainment stages for performers, food vendors, kids zone and other cultural experiences. The event also celebrated the 100th anniversary of Chinatown with over 70,000 people attending this year.

Calgary Dragon Boat Regatta

Saturday morning, 7:30am the monks from the Monestary begin a Chinese Tradition called the "Eye Dotting Ceremony" on Dragon Boats at the 2010 Calgary Dragon Boat Regetta. The ceremony's purpose is to ward off evil spirits and prepare the boats for safety and good luck for the paddlers racing in the regetta....

Calgary Chinese Community Centennial Stampede Parade Float

Over 70 volunteers from Calgary Chinese Community participated in the Stampede Parade on the community parade float which comprised of drums, flag dancers, lions and dragon. This year the community float was awarded two trophies by the Calgary Stampede.

Opening Ceremonies were held at Jamieson Place to unveil a photo exhibit called "Builders & Patriots II: A History of Calgary's Chinatown." This legacy project comprising of historical information about buildings, businesses, organizations and associations with personal stories of people and families related to Chinatown.
