The United Calgary Chinese Association (UCCA) follows the Chinese tradition annually, to hold the Ching Ming Festival of filial practices to remember those predecessors, this morning at 11:00am, which was lead by the president and vice presidents with all members and various community representatives. They prepared offering foods i.e. the BBQ Pork and chicken, wine, fruit, cakes, and etc., and held a memorial ceremony in the old and new Chinese cemeteries in the city. And in particular, throughout this year is the first century of the establishment for the present Chinatown, the memorial ceremony is more meaningful of those overseas Chinese settlers, for who were the first to come here with great contributions for the city and the country – Canada, more than one hundred years ago.
